It is unclear on the shp2sde.htm page from the ArcSDE admin pages, but each Shapefile will need to have the.CPG codepage helper file created and maintained with it. The list of code page identifiers in the shp2sde help article is a readable reference as to which code page to use in a.CPG file-- UTF-8 for Unicode support. But, in yóur case you máy find the aIternative to create á dbfDefault registry vaIue to be moré efficient for deaIing with the myriád of Shapfile dáta in your énvironment. Setting dbfDefault is clearly detailed in this older ESRI KB article 21106: INDENT INDENT Essentially on each PC working with Shapefiles in ArcMap, youll edit the registry adding dbfDefault (if not already there) with the string value UTF-8, and you will also need to have a Unicode aware font installed--which you seem to have already.
